Welcome

News update....

A warm welcome to Effra Early Years Centre. Our integrated centre consists of childcare for 2-3 year olds, a maintained nursery school for 3-4 years old children located in the heart of Brixton and Herne Hill, and a children’s centre located in Brockwell Park.

At Effra we are committed to giving every child the opportunity to learn and thrive, making sure they have the very best start to their early nursery education. We are also keen that parents and carers are actively involved and have a range of ways for you to participate in your child’s learning and development. As a nursery school we have qualified graduate teachers working alongside qualified early years educators and practitioners. We work as a team to provide high quality, fun learning experiences for nursery children to explore and engage with. We invite you to arrange to join us on one of our regular open mornings. This way you can see us in action! Please contact our admin officer for further information or paper copies you would find helpful.

Best wishes
Clare Bradley & Rob Jenner

Covid 19 update.

Our priority is the safety of everyone who uses our services, visits us, or works at Effra. We have a detailed risk assessment in place and we have adopted a range of safety measures. These include:
  • Supporting our children to regularly wash their hands and to observe good personal hygiene practices.
  • Regular cleaning of all areas and resources.
  • Staggered start and finish times and a one-way entry and exit route to help maintain social distancing
  • Limiting the number of people entering the site
  • Limiting contacts within the site
  • Requiring visitors to the site to wear a face covering.
We are happy to discuss any concerns you may have about your child attending nursery or childcare during the pandemic.
We have places for children of 2, 3 and 4 years old so if you are looking for a place for your child please contact us using the details below.

The children's centres are running some sessions, in very small groups that are pre-booked. Information about these sessions is here. You can book by calling the contact information on the timetable. If you need any support you can complete a self-referral form via the Lambeth website or call the Effra number.

Please take care and follow government advice to help control the spread of the virus.

Many thanks.
You can find out more about the help available with funding your childcare on the new government website Childcare Choices and also at Lambeth Parent Portal.

Attached is a really helpful document for parents to read and use regarding Black Lives Matter. It gives some background about the movement, contains a guide about how to discuss these issues with your children and may be a very useful tool for families to explain how important racial equality is. We hope you find it useful.
